There is nothing more frustrating than having the flu – it’s the most annoying type of illness you will ever encounter. I mean, unlike other illnesses, the flu simply disables you from doing most of the things you are able to do while having other illnesses. For example, even writing this post is virtually impossible, as I’m busy blowing my nose every 8 words of typing.

I think that the most frustrating part is the part about being unable to do anything productive, as your head is clogged up with other stuff – like making sure you don’t sneeze your brain’s out of its place. It is kind of amazing that over the course of 8000 of years of human evolution, nothing had been done about the common flu. We have various drugs to help ease the symptoms, however, no one has a cure for it. All the funds in the world are directed to the research of AIDS, CANCER, ALS, etc – all are horrible diseases (in fact, I think that ALS is one of the most scary diseases I’ve ever seen or heard about), but yet, none of them is called “The common flu”, it’s called common as everybody gets it from time to time, but yet, no one can do anything about it – how frustrating.

How come there are no advancements in the common flu area? I think that the drug companies simply don’t want to develop a cure for the common flu or common cold – and the reason is mainly financial. Think about it, the pain relief medication market is a multi-billion dollar market, if you create a “flu-cure”, a serious portion of that market will go away. I can’t even imagine a company like Advil or Nurophen wanting to develop a drug like that – it would be like shooting their own foot. So, they develop symptom relief drugs, but those only help for a short while and usually they relieve the symptoms along side some side effects that make you unproductive. AAAAAAAAPPPPPPCCCCCHHHHHHEEEEEEEE……
